The New York Times - Postcards from a world on fire
For The New York Times part of "Postcards from a world on fire" an important project on global climate change.
Sicily is tropicalizing: in summer temperatures are very high and cyclones with tropical characteristics are more frequent, such as "Medicane" which in recent months has devastated part of eastern Sicily. Consequently our agriculture is also changing. The Cupane family, owners of a lemon grove in Capo D'Orlando for generations, in 2015 converted a plot of land into mango and avocado crops, more adapt to this new tropical climate.
Two months ago I spent a day in Cupane ‘s farm with Maruzza and some farmers to document the mango harvest in Sicily.
